Cleaning A Poultry Home

With the economic recession, many people can no longer afford all the organic foods that they used to buy. Eating non organic food is simply scary, and there is absolutely no guarantee that you won’t find chicken with a mutated bone that may cause you cancer or some eggs laid by monstrous chickens that are injected with hormones that will upset your balance. To counter this, many people choose to raise their own chicken in a poultry house out in their backyard.

I am one of those people. I have always found the thought of eating fried chicken from fast food chains repulsing. Having written countless press releases on chicken, I have gradually lost my faith in the food industry. I am not a particularly picky person, and I am willing to eat anything—as long as it is healthy and wouldn’t harm my body. After a period of craving chicken, I finally worked up the courage to try out some chicken from a local KFC. The first mouthful was juicy and just what they advertise—finger lickin’ good. After several hours, however, I found myself sick and nauseating. This may have been a psychological effect, but I did not realize at the time.

This was a turning point in my life. I made up my mind to grow my own chickens. At the time, I didn’t think about any of the responsibilities—I just had delicious chicken in mind and a healthy way to obtain them without breaking my bank. I realized that growing hens would be great—I could have eggs for several months until I ate the chicken!

Some Chicken House Designs

As the world strives to progress and develop, we notice how technology makes our everyday products easy to obtain and cheaper so. What it does not do is help save the environment or produce healthier products. What many people have come to think is that we should grow our own food that is both organic and healthy. Most people opt for a small garden in their backyard, but others opt for chicken and eggs.

As a child of a farmer, I have learned many tricks about raising chicken. One of the most important things would be to make a good chicken house. Different environments require different chicken houses. Also, the amount of chicken that you are raising would also modify the chicken house designs. Here are some examples.

For the people who wish to move their coop around.

There are two basic designs for this need. One of them involves leaving out the concrete and simply driving stakes into the ground. Build a typical square chicken house with an area of one square meter and attach a wooden or fiberglass roof. Relocation would require removing the stakes and driving it elsewhere—like a tent.

Another design for this need would be the chicken house trailer. This is an abstract design that not a lot of people use. Simply look up any design for a medium barn style chicken house—usually 4 meters long and 2 meters wide. Build the house on top of a metal trailer rack and make sure that it is level. There will be no coop involved in building this house, and it is extremely portable—only if you have a four wheel drive to hook it up to.

For the people who wish to sell eggs.

My family opted for this design. Usually, to make a profit from selling eggs, you must have a large industrial size chicken house. If you have seen any of the 10 by 8 meter barns out there, this is what it looks like. Our favorite design was 10 meters wide, 8 meters long and 2 meters tall.
